You wake up in the morning and as your lying in bed, your mind says “stay your butt in bed for a few minutes more.”
Does this happen to you? It happens to me everyday but here is how I shake that thought and get my feet to the floor.
I wake up at 4:30am and I literally-I’m really serious-I have my cat lying next to my pillow starring me down, patiently waiting for mom to get up. My mind begins to procrastinate. “Stay in bed a few minutes more, they can wait.” I relentlessly get up and before my feet hit the floor, I sit up and say “Thank you for waking me up. ”
The feeling of gratitude of being able to wake up alone is a source of motivation for me. I think of all the people who are no longer here and it just gives me a deep soul gratification. It really makes me happy!
Once my feet hit the floor, I kick into second gear. I go to the bathroom, brush my teeth, and apply my beauty cream to my face-yes, I need to stay young looking! See, while I do this, my small child (cat) is watching me.
Then it’s off to the kitchen where I begin to heat up my water for my green tea. I love green tea as it helps keep my immune system up. I grab my vitamins and take them with room temperature water. You may think I’m odd but I prefer room temperature water in the cold months. I drink the whole bottle. It’s a great way to hydrate organs that have been depleted by sleeping.
I proceed to clean the litter box, feed the cat, and wash my hands. I begin to put my lunch and snacks that I prepared the night before in my lunch bag. As I walk around, I feel the touch of a soft paw 🙂
I head to my bedroom and start my day with praying. It’s cemented into my routine. As I pray, I feel a happiness in my soul similar to having a baby. It’s a happiness that fills your inside and tunes your mind into positivity. I look out my window and see daybreak coming up. I begin to meditate. As I prepare for my day, I listen for that divine peace. The voice that speaks to my soul and mind and makes me feel invincible.
Affirmations are next on my list. I recite affirmations as I get dressed and finish my makeup and do my hair. I don’t just recite, but I feel the words in my soul as if I already have it. It feels like the warm summer sun rising as you walk on the beach. All you hear is the waves and smell of salt water. It puts my mind and soul in such a happy and grateful mood. I stay silent and that is when writing ideas begin to fill my mind.
At this point, I feel like Wonder Woman ready and equipped to conquer anything that the day will bring. I get ready to walk out the door, and put on my coat. I imagine that my coat is the red cape Wonder Woman wears. I love Wonder Woman. She represents a strong, gorgeous, caring, and kick ass woman. Did I mention my favorite color is blue? My truck is blue too. Coincidence huh? I don’t think so!
If you develop a routine, whether you’re a morning, afternoon, or evening riser, you will also see motivation come naturally every day. Your mood will be more positive and you’ll be happy all day. It doesn’t matter if your Catholic, Baptist, Jewish, Hindu, Buddha, or non denomination, you need to believe in something. Affirmations help boost your happiness especially when you feel the words in your soul.
Implement a routine to get yourself motivated.
