Tips to make yourself a priority 

Self-care seems to be one of the last things you will do. There never seems to be enough time in a day to do it or even think of yourself. We live in a time where everything else takes precedence. Our children, spouses, partner, family and friends seem more important than ourselves.

Did you ever feel guilty because you wanted to take care of yourself before anyone else? I’ve been there. You feel awkward inside and it should never be like this. A great way to make sure you don’t forget is to dedicate time for yourself within the day.

First, you have needs,  so remind yourself that you are priority. You can’t continue to help others if you continue to neglect yourself. You will become weary and exhausted. For me, being a mom is priority over myself. I had to change that concept really quick. I became exhausted and sometimes frustrated because it seemed there was little time left to achieve my own personal goals.

Second, make the time for yourself a priority. If people in your life don’t understand then no worries, you don’t need them too. You have the right to care for yourself and no one can take that away from you. Carve time out everyday and you’ll notice the difference in your mood and physical health.

Third, do what makes you happy in your time. Hit the gym, read a book, or simply go for a walk or run on the beach. This is your time so do something that makes you happy. Your happiness is just as important as any person in your life.
